Sexual Assault HelpWhat to do if you’ve been sexually assaulted: If you have been sexually assaulted by a family member, a colleague, a teacher or a stranger, contact the police immediately to file a report. Do not be concerned about the person who has assaulted you. Be concerned for yourself. If you have delayed contacting the police for various reasons, please know that you can still go to them, even years after the attack, to make a charge. If you need help coping with the aftermath of sexual assault, please contact your local Sexual Assault Crisis Center. You should find the number in the white pages of your phone book. You can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline, operated by RAINN, 24 hours a day at All local U.S. rape crisis hotlines will be listed on the rainn.org Web site. You’ll also be able to narrow your search if you are looking for specialized services – groups for male, elderly, teen or disabled survivors, programs for people under age 12, spouses or family members, adults molested as children or GLBT survivors, as well as services via TTY, in Spanish or other languages.
